    Buy the Podcasting Pocket Guide!

As some of you may recall, Friday Coffeeblogging was reveiwed quite favorably in a chapter of the O'Reilly published book, the Podcasting Pocket Guide. Today I received an email from Richard Giles, the co-author of that book. Richard has written another, longer book on podcasting, that he hopes to also have published by O'Reilly. Apparently, the larger book's publication is contingent on the success of the Pocket Guide. Here is his email:
    Hi

You may remember a few months ago I contacted you about a podcast book
I was writing, called the Whole Internet Guide to Podcasting and Internet Audio. In it I reviewed your podcast.

O'Reilly, the publisher, used part of the book to produce a pocket
guide that's just been published. They only used 30 of the 100+
podcasts I reviewed for this version, and added another chapter from
Podcast Hacks. It's a nice introduction to podcasts, because it says
how to subscribe, how to record, and points to the 30 shows worth
subscribing to. It's a great book to introduce the concept, but
doesn't have the appeal to an average listener like The Whole Internet
Guide to Podcasting and Internet Audio does.

However, they've decided to wait and see just how the pocket guide
sells before they decide if my work goes to print. That's a real
disappointment, because as you'll know if you've been involved in
publishing, it was 3 months of VERY hard work.

So I'm appealing to you to perhaps mention the Podcasting Pocket Guide
on your show. If it gets the exposure, sells a few copies, and perhaps
even gets a few good reviews in Amazon, then O'Reilly might publish
    the Whole Internet Guide.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but it's my first book, and I put my
heart and soul into it's creation. I certainly didn't write it for the
money, it was all about seeing it in print. I'm sure that if it makes
it, that you'll appreciate seeing your show amongst the pages.

Indeed, it was a pleasure to see FCB in the pocket guide and I sure would like to see the bigger book get published too. And it's cheap! So get over to Amazon and get your copy--throw it in with some order you were planning on getting anyway and get free shipping.

    Bloggie nominations are open

This year the Bloggies (weblog awards) have a new category: Best Podcast of a Weblog. Nominations are open until the 10th. That's all I'm saying.
