FCB on VPR
So the Vermont Public Radio piece on podcasting in Vermont will air tomorrow according to reporter Steve Zind. I just now got the following email from him:
So everyone tune in! I don't know if it will be available as a linkable mp3 or not but if it is I'll link to it here.
UPDATE: The show is available to listen to online here.
It's a good piece. I long for the day when stories about podcasting don't spend half the time telling people what podcasting is, but news stories still often describe what blogs are so I guess it will be a while yet. Interestingly, I don't see any links to any of the three podcasts mentioned in the story on the VPR site. Am I missing them? That seems like a really bad oversight. That's the sort of thing that would drive me to the website. If I heard this story on the radio and wanted links, the first place I'd check is the VPR site. Stef? What's the deal?
UPDATE #2: So reading the transcript of the piece is pretty weird. Here is a snip:
Okay, so not to nitpick but...
The show is called Friday Coffeeblogging, not "The radio (sic) Bean Friday Coffeeblog."
We've been podcasting for exactly 4 months today, not 5 months.
We "cover the waterfront?"
"Medicorps?" A quick email to me would have fixed this. They're called midi-clorians, and as the intrepid young interviewee stated so eloquently in that episode of FCB, they're "retarded."
Still, it was nice to be noticed and Steve was really cool. I'm still hoping to get him down to the Bean some Friday.
Bill,
I think the podcasting piece airs Tuesday morning...7:30am would be my
guess...and again in the afternoon at 5:30 or 5:50. I hope it came out
ok. Thanks for your help!
Steve

- (Zind) The work of one group of Vermont podcasters has already attracted attention. Every Friday afternoon there's a small gathering at a Burlington cafe.
(Simmon) "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Friday Coffeeblogging. My name is Bill. We are at the Radio Bean in Burlington, Vermont."
(Zind) The radio Bean Friday Coffeeblog was mentioned recently in a podcasting article in Business Week Magazine.
As someone who's been podcasting for five months, Bill Simmon is a veteran.
He and his podcasting partners and any guests who drop in, cover the waterfront in each week's thirty to forty minute podcast - from technology to politics to pop culture.
(Simmon) "We did record one episode standing in line to see episode three of the Star Wars Movie."
(Star Wars music)
(Simmon)"What do you think of Medicorps?
(Man)Medicorps is the most retarded thing that George Lucas has ever done "
